The Directorate of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia in Dagestan is checking the rising bread prices in Makhachkala, RIA Novosti reports.

The prices increased from 18-19 rubles to 24-25 rubles per loaf of bread on Monday. Flour prices at a bakery in Makhachkala increased from 500-550 rubles to 800-850 rubles per bag.

Bakeries sell bread for 21 rubles. Expeditors sell it for 23-24 rubles due to higher gasoline prices.

This has been the second increase of bread prices in Dagestan in the last 3 months.

750 grams of bread in Dagestan grew from 16 to 18-19 rubles on July 1. Bakers said that such dramatic rise of prices was a result of increased expenditures of flour, energy carriers, housing and utilities services, inflation of the past 2 years, wages, taxes and other expenses.
