Zvezda Kaspiy-2012 blocks drug trafficking

The police of the Astrakhan Region, Kalmykia and Dagestan confiscated over 75 kg of narcotics during the Zvezda Kaspiy-2012 operation, RIA Novosti reports.

The operation lasted from September 7 to October 5. Over 400 law enforcers, soldiers and civil specialists of the Astrakhan Region and Dagestan were involved.

434 drug-related crimes were registered, two smuggling attempts stopped, 287 people caught for drug trafficking. The police were blocking routes for drug trafficking through the Caspian Sea to Russia. 86 ships carrying cargo between ports of Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan were checked.

709 crew members were checkec by specialists of Narkologichesky Dispanser.
