Russian foreign minister to discuss European security

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will make a speech at the Federation Council about the role of Russian in European security, RIA Novosti reports.

Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said at the committee for international affairs that Lavrov will also discuss relations with the European Union and the Council of Europe. He noted that Europe is one of Russia’s main partners.

Head of the international committee Mikhail Margelov believes that the talks will be informative and honest.

Senators plan to ratify two agreements on preservation and development of science and industry resources of the CSTO. The documents set common principles of forming interstate science and industry associations within the framework of the CSTO to manufacture military products.

The Federation Council will also discuss formation of the Foundation for Prospect Research similar to US DARPA.

Another bill for consideration should lift the right of criminals repeating crimes for suspended sentences.
