Armenian Republican Party to introduce Sargsyan for re-election as president

The Republican Party of Armenia will hold a conference in late 2012 and introduce its leader and the country’s President Serzh Sargsyan as the candidate for presidential polls, News Armenia cites Vice Speaker of Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov.

He denied rumours that Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of Prosperous Armenia, and Serzh Sargsyan had any secret deals. Even if there were any, Gagik Tsarukyan was a member of the Security Council, he reminds.

Disputes between the Republican Party and Prosperous Armenia happened in May 2012. Prosperous Armenia refused to sign the memorandum on formation of a coalition. The new memorandum of the Republican Party and Orinats Yerkir confirmed support for Sargsyan.

MP Vardan Oskanyan lost his parliamentary immunity on October 2 over a case on income. He was charged with high-scale property theft and legalization of illegal income on October 8.
