Iranian foreign minister arrives for ECO summit in Baku

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi arrived in Baku last night for a summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Trend reports.

The official will attend the 20th session of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers. They will discuss regional affairs, spokesman of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elman Andullayev said.

ECO is a regional economic organization of Middle Asia and Middle East founded in 1985. It is the successor of the Regional Cooperation for Development Organization, founded by the Izmir Treaty of March 12, 1977, signed by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey.

ECO consists of Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
