Iranian president arrives in Azerbaijan

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has arrived in Azerbaijan for a summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) today, Trend reports.

Ahmadinejad will attend the summit in Baku on October 16-17. He will then head to Kuwait.

ECO is a regional economic organization of Middle Asia and Middle East founded in 1985. It is the successor of the Regional Cooperation for Development Organization based on the Izmir Treaty signed by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey on March 12, 1977. The organization includes Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
