Turkey spends over $220 million on upkeep of Syrian refugees
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaTurkey has spent over $220 million on the upkeep of Syrian refugees, Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said, ITAR-TASS reports.
The sum was spent on equipment and support of refugee camps and over 100,000 refugees.
Syrian refugees were accommodated in 13 tent camps, a container town and a temporary center for refugees in six southern provinces, four of which are located at the Syrian border.
Over 143,000 refugees have arrived in Turkey from Syria, 43,000 of whom have returned back home.
Up to 10,000 more refugees have gathered at the border. New tent camps are under construction.
