Syrian opposition approves the urge of Lakhdar Brahimi, special envoy of the UN and LAS for Syria, to start cease-fire negotiations.

Leader of the Syrian National Council Abdelbasset Sida said that peace talks were set for late October. Brahimi wants the side of conflict to sign a cease-fire agreement for Eid al-Adha.

Spokesman of the Syrian Foreign Ministry Jihad Maqdesi said that the initiative needs both sides to respond in order to succeed. He noted that the Syrian government was ready to discuss the proposals and emphasized that an end to violence depends on the rebels and their foreign supports.
