Armenia joins Global Code of Tourism for Ethics

Yerevan is hosting a conference of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Armenia joined the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Economy Tigran Davtyan, UNWTO Director General Taleb Rifai, Executive Director of the Armenian Association of Tourism Operators Aleksan Zakiyan, managers of the Zvartnots Airport, tourism companies.

The code is to organize a responsible and sustainable tourism industry. All sides are to protect human rights, carry out socially-oriented policy, be responsible for ecology, protection of cultural values.

The code was adopted in 1999.
