Silvio Berlusconi sentenced to 4 years in prison

Former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment by a Milan court today, world media report. He will also have to pay 10 million euros to Italian tax services.

Berlusconi was found guilty of fraud in the framework of the notorious Mediaset case.

Silvio Berlusconi is also known as personal friend and business partner of Russian Preisident Vladimir Putin. Berlusconi (together with former German chancellor Gerhard Schröder) was among the few European politicians to attend Putin's inauguration that followed disputed presidential elections this year.
