The Russian president’s envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), Khloponin, pointed out the main problems of the region’s Mineral Waters spa town at a news conference in Yessentuki. The problems are water, energy and prices, Interfax reports.

He noted that a night in an average sanatorium costs over $150 rubles which is more expensive than Turkey, and does not include additional services. The envoy also announced a project to improve the situation.

At the same time he noted that no investment project will harm protected territories, natural parks and reservations in the North Caucasus, saying that laws on this were extremely strict.

In early July ecologists said projects for Caucasus ski resorts will damage the territories of national parks.
