Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk received the Legion of Honour Order from French Culture Minister Aurelie Filippetti on the night of October 29.

Pamuk is notorious for “The Museum of Innocence” book, dedicated to criticism of any intolerance, suppression and threats. Over 11 million of copies were sold. The writer moved from Turkey to the US in 2007 as a result of conflict with nationalists.

The Legion of Honour Order was created by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802 for special merit for France.
