Ossetians to restore old family names

The South Ossetian parliament was discussing a bill on family names presented by Mira Tskhovrebova, chairwoman of the committee for national policy, culture, education, science, religion and media, Res reports.

She explained that names ending with “shvili”, “dze”, “ov” and “ev” do not match the historical tradition.

The bill was introduced for the session on October 31.
