8% more Muslim pilgrims this year

3.5 million pilgrims from 107 states made the hajj this year, increasing 8% compared with 2011.

Over 1.5 million of them were citizens of Saudi Arabia.

Russian Muslims used air transport to make the hajj this year due to the complicated situation in Syria and Iraq. The whole world marked Eid al-Adha last Friday.
