An Eighth champion

Hundreds of national teams from every continent have been fighting for the most prestigious football trophy for decades. But only seven teams of Europe and South America have won it. The African World Championship will produce an eighth champion. The company of Uruguay, Italy, Germany, Brazil, England, Argentina and France will welcome either Spain or Holland. Both national teams deserve the right to triumph for their playing in the championship, their football history and their contribution to the development of the world's favourite game.

Spain beat the young and very strong German National Team. The Spanish seemed to show more initiative than the Germans. Though the Spanish had more chances of scoring goals, they lacked accuracy. In some episodes the Germans were simply lucky. The Germans were patient and almost managed to score a goal, especially when Kroosa was replaced by Casillas.

The match was resolved in the 73rd minute. The three authors of the winning goal were Khavi, Puyol and Pike. Spain will take part in the final for the first time in history. As for Germany, this is the third time it has been stopped a small step from a great victory. They lost a semi-final in 2006 to Italy, then the final of the European Championship in 2008 to Spain and now they have lost a semi-final again. Just like 4 years ago, the German team will now fight for 3rd position, playing Uruguay on July 10th. The final match will take place in Johannesburg on July 11th.
