Aliyev discusses Internet-management with UN Under-Secretary General

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by UN

Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Wu Hongbo on

November 5, APA reports. Wu Hongbo said that the government of

Azerbaijan attached special importance to the development of

information and communication technologies and highly estimated

Azerbaijan as a regional leader in this sphere. The guest noted the

importance of active participation of Azerbaijan in the UN

“E-Government” projects. In his turn, President Ilham Aliyev

underlined the importance of the UN Under-Secretary General’s

participation in the 7th Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

The Head of State said that the information and communication technologies

sector is one of the priority spheres. Underlining the importance of

Azerbaijan’s election as a member of the UN Security Council with

strong international support on the 20th anniversary of its

independence, the President expressed confidence that cooperation

between Azerbaijan and the UN will further develop successfully.
