Shoygu becomes Russian Defense Minister

Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov and replaced him with Governor of the Moscow Region Sergey Shoygu, RIA Novosti reports.

Putin and Shoygu met on Tuesday.

Serdyukov was dismissed to make the investigation a the Defense Ministry impartial.
