Russia to invest $1.5 billion in Tajik and Kyrgyz military

Russia will invest about over $1 billion in Kyrgyzstan and $200 million in Tajikistan for modernization of the Armed Forces, Kommersant reports.

The finances will be provided according to the Collective Security Treaty with account of US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2014.

Kyrgyzstan will receive weapons, vehicles, helicopters, hospitals, mortars, satellite equipment. Kyrgyz military will undergo training in Russia.

Tajikistan will modernize air defenses, repair military equipment. It will have benefits in purchasing Russian petroleum.
