Azerbaijani non-petroleum sector shows rapid development

Ziyad Samedzade, head of the Azerbaijani parliamentary committee for economic policy, said that non-petroleum industry was developing faster than petroleum industry, Trend reports.

GDP growth is expected at 5.3% in 2013, totaling $71 billion, exceeding the sum in 2009 by $29 billion. 55% of the GDP will belong to the non-petroleum sector.

The GDP in 2013 will exceed the volume ten years ago by 700%.

The GDP level in the 1990s was dropping, but the average rate in 2000-2008 reached 18.1%. The GDP per capita put Azerbaijan on the 12 position among CIS states in 1999 and on the 6th in 2011. The GDP per capita in 2011 exceeded that of Georgia 2.1-fold and Armenia 2.3-fold.
