Baku hosts conference of public and religious officials

Public and religious officials of Azerbaijan are having a conference in Baku. Elshad Iskenderov, head of the State Committee for Religious Organizations, noted that aggressive separatism, religious extremism and terrorism were threats for the modern world and emphasized the need to see difference between personal and religious freedom, 1news.az reports.

The official noted that Azerbaijani experience of religious tolerance and interaction of religion and statehood were essential for the world.

Allahshukur Pashazadeh, head of the Caucasus Muslim Administration, emphasized the positive interaction of religion and statehood in Azerbaijan and called Azerbaijani religious experience an example for other countries. He stressed that religion should not become a tool of politics.
