The prominent Israeli lawyer Mordehai Zivin appealed to the Turkish prime minister Recep Erdogan for mercy and a speeding-up the process of extradition to an Israeli prison of the Israeli citizen, Avigai Hasid.

The Israeli police stated that 39-year old Avigai Hasid is a dangerous criminal who headed an organized criminal group for several years. The group provided night clubs of Turkish Cyprus with girls from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Uzbekistan.

In May 2011 he was arrested in the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus according to “the red order” of the Interpol. Israel demanded its extradition to the motherland for a trial, and the Istanbul Court issued satisfaction of the demand. However, the prime minister of Turkey Erdogan hasn’t adopted the court’s decision yet – probably due to the crisis in relations between the countries.

Therefore, Avigai Hasid is staying in the city prison of Istanbul, which is thought to have terrible conditions. There 12 other prisoners in his wars, who do not hide contempt for him as he is a pimp and a Jew (relations between the countries influence relations between people too). Hasid has no TV, computer, video games, or other conveniences which are typical for Israeli prisons. That is why Hasid insists on his extradition to Israel, even though he knows that he may be sent for 8 years in prison there.

The lawyer Mordehai Zivin who represents Hasid’s interests believes that the delay in the process of extradition is connected with political reasons only. “Unfortunately, the prime minister of Turkey doesn’t know the full information about this case. We do our best for he to learn about the tragic case and express mercy as Hasid’s health is worsening in the Turkish prison. Considering my previous experience, the Turkish authorities often show humanity, despite their severe image in the world,” the lawyer said.
