Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has welcomed the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution condemning the US sanctions against Cuba.

“We believe that the era of unilateral cruel and illegal measures against nations has come to an end,” Mehmanparast said on Thursday.

The UN Assembly on Tuesday voted, for the 21st year in a row, to denounce the commercial, economic and financial embargoes imposed by the US against Cuba.

A record number of 188 member states of the Assembly supported the measure while the United States, Israel, and the Republic of Palau voted against it. The Marshall Islands and Micronesia abstained.
