TANAP to allow gas from Caspian littoral countries to be transported to Europe
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaAzerbaijan will raise export volumes of gas to at least 40-50 billion cubic meters by 2025, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev said at the summit "New opportunities of a dynamic region" in Istanbul, Trend reports.
He said that it is planned to create a new energy corridor between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Europe within the transportation of gas to be produced within the second phase of developing the "Shah Deniz" Azerbaijani gas condensate field.
Azerbaijan envisages the development of gas reserves at the "Absheron" and "Umid" fields, other prospective structures and deep-lying gas at the "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" block of oil and gas fields, Abdullayev said.
Most of this gas will be exported to the European market. The Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) will be the gas transmission infrastructure that will ensure the safe transportation of gas from Azerbaijan to Europe, Abdullayev said.
In future, along with Azerbaijani gas, this gas pipeline will transport gas from other countries of the Caspian basin, via Azerbaijan and Turkey to Europe. The gas pipeline will become a fundamental and crucial element within the "Southern Gas Corridor", which will be implemented in phases, the SOCAR head said.
