Jabbar Vetenfred, director of the main directorate for CIS countries and border rivers of the Iranian Ministry for Energy, plans to discuss use of Araz River water to save Lake Urmia from drought, APA reports.

Vetenfred said that the Megri Dam which will be built on the Iranian-Armenian border on River Araz will not need additional water, using only the natural stream.

70% of Urmia has dried out. One liter of water contains 400 grams of salt, compared with 160-170 grams earlier.
