Russia presents resolution project for Gaza

Russia has presented a resolution project for Gaza and the Middle East at the UN Security Council and expects the document to be considered today. The project has no accusations against any sides of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The document has three points: immediate cease-fire, support for international and regional efforts to resolve the conflict and encouragement of the sides to start bilateral peace talks basing on recognition of both states by the UNSC in 2008.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have discussed the Gaza conflict in Cambodia today. They agreed on the need of four ministers of the Middle East to meet with LAS assistance.

The US supports mediation by Egypt. Russia cooperates with Israel and Hamas.
