Ericsson to help Iranian mobile operator

Ericsson (Sweden) has started cooperating with Iranian humanitarian services to expand mobile phone signal. The Swedish company says that Iranian security officers use mobile phones to find dissidents, Reuters reports.


Four mobile manufacturers, including Ericsson, plan no new contracts in Iran. Frederick Hallstan of Ericsson said that a new project was being developed with Iran according to a contract signed in 2008.


Ericsson will continue cooperation with MTN Irancell. Ericsson told South African authorities of MTN Group that it owned 49% of MTN Irancell shares.
