Obama says Iran could trigger Mideast arms race

Iran’s development of nuclear weapons could set in motion an arms race in the Middle East, U.S. President Barack Obama said.

Speaking to the Fox News Channel, Obama said preventing Iran from building nuclear weapons was one of his top priorities.

On Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, Obama said that Washington’s relations with Tel Aviv were not in crisis, despite Israel’s announcement of construction projects in east Jerusalem.

Nevertheless, Obama criticized the decision and said it did not contribute to the peace process.
