Iran’s president meets with Pakistani counterpart in Islamabad

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has met with his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari on the sidelines of the Group of Eight Developing Countries summit (D-8) in Islamabad, Press TV reports. 


During the meeting on Friday in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, Ahmadinejad expressed Iran’s readiness to use all potentials of the D-8 summit to help the development of member states.

“Tehran and Islamabad by strengthening their relations and using all cooperation potentials can take important steps toward the development and the wellbeing of the two nations and the region,” he said.

Ahmadinejad added that the problems in the Middle East region are due to the meddling and greed of foreign countries, stressing that regional states can resolve their problems through dialog and establish lasting security and peace.
