Azerbaijani president legalizes TANAP construction

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has approved ratification of the Azerbaijani-Turkish deal on gas sales to Turkey, transit of gas through Turkey and construction of the Trans-Anatolia Gas Pipeline (TANAP).

The intergovernmental deal was signed on June 26, 2012. Turkey ratified it about 1.5 months ago.

TANAP will transport Azerbaijani gas from the Shah Deniz Field to Europe through Turkey. Other Caspian states are expected to make use of the pipeline, an element of the South Gas Corridor.
