President of the Russian Federation meets representatives of Russian diplomatic corps

Dmitry Medvedev has held a meeting with ambassadors, permanent representatives and heads of Ministries. Topical issues of foreign and international policy were discussed, reports RIA Novosti. “Russia should use more effective means of foreign policy to solve questions of the internal development of the country. For example, economic modernization, and all the basic directions of the process that our diplomatic staff must know”, said Medvedev. As other important tasks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he cited the strengthening of civil institutions; war on organized crime, international terrorism and drug trafficking; wider assistance to the CIS and EurAsEC. He signed a new consulate statute and is to sign a law on the specifics of federal service in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
