Notorious militant leader killed in Chechnya

Police have killed a notorious militant leader during a continuing special operation in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Chechnya, Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov said on Thursday, RIA Novosti reports.

 “I’ve just been told that one of the dead terrorists has been identified – this is a citizen of one of a Middle Eastern country, the ethnic Arab Abu Haled” said Kadyrov from the scene of the operation.

“According to our data, Abu Haled arrived in the Chechen Republic 13 years ago. He carried out the training of terrorists,” Kadyrov added.

He also called the elimination of the militant leader “a great result”.
