UN and EU urge Israel to stop construction in Palestinian areas

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton have urged Israel to stop construction of 3000 houses (E-1 package) on the Western Bank of Jordan.

Ban Ki-moon says that building the E-1 zone may cut Eastern Jerusalem from the rest of the Western Bank of Jordan.

Israel responded to recognition of Palestine as a UN observer by building 3000 houses at Jewish settlements of Eastern Jerusalem and the Western Bank of Jordan.
