Russian president arrives in Istanbul

Russian President Vladimir Putin has landed at the Airport of Ataturk in Istanbul, welcomed by Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz.

Putin will have negotiations with Prime Minister Recep tayyip Erdogan and will attend the Russian-Turkish cooperation council.

The cooperation council was formed during Putin’s visit to Turkey in August 2009. It is co-chaired by Russian and Turkish prime ministers. The first session was held in Ankara in May 2010.

The council develops the strategy and basic principles for development of ties between the two countries. It coordinates political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian projects.
