Kabardino-Balkarian leader expresses condolences over journalist murder

Spokesman of the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin said that a criminal case was initiated for murder of 28-year old journalist Kazbek Gekkiyev of VGTRK TV working for Vesti KBR and illegal purchase, transfer, storage and carriage of weapons, ITAR-TASS reports.

The journalist was killed when returning home on Kirov Street at 9 pm. He was shot three times. The police found 9mm shells. Markin says that professional activities of Gekkiyev are the main theory for murder.

Gekkiyev was not an author of any topical crime problems. He was making reports in Russian and Balkarian.

Kabardino-Balkarian Leader Arsen Kanokov expressed condolences over te murder and said that finding the assailants was a matter of honour.
