Iran, Iraq and Syria plan to synchronize their national energy systems and form the largest electricity network in the Middle East, Iranian Deputy Energy Minister Mohammed Behzad said, Mehr News reports.

Iran exports electricity and services to neighbours for $5 million annually. Iran sells 2200-2500 MW/h for over $1 billion to Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

Iran produces about 67 GW and has recently allowed private power plants to be built. A contract was signed with India to build a power plant in Iran.

Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou said that electricity export to Lebanon was one of the main priorities of his ministry.
