Iran holds 6th place in global gold consumption
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaThe deputy head of the Association of Goldsmiths and Jewelers, Khushang Shisheboran, said at the 4th international exhibition of precious metals, gold, silver, jewelry, watches, decorative stones, jeweled instruments and industrial equipment in Isfahan that the golden jewelry industry of Iran is still behind the world development rate, Iran News reports, citing ISNA.
Gold manufacturing is an industrial sphere with benefits, including employment, high surplus value and fast capital turnover. But Iran is behind the world in this sphere. Iran has been working in gold manufacturing for 5000 years and achieved great skill in jewelry production.
Iran has 80,000 jewelry enterprises and workshops with over 280,000 people employed by them. Shisheboran noted that Iran holds 6th position in the world for gold consumption and wearing jewelry is widespread in the country. The high demand for jewelry helps maintain the high level of jewelry production.
