Russian New Year characters banned in Uzbekistan

Father Frost, his granddaughter Snegurochka and other characters of Russian folk stories were removed from Uzbek TV channels, RIA Novosti reports.

Analysts say that Uzbek leader has a powerful group of aggressive functionaries devoted to national traditions. Experts believe that the group may be waiting for a moment to reorganize the country.

The traditional New Year Tree celebrations will be held all over the country, nonetheless.
