North Ossetian leaders says national policy bases on Russian people

North Ossetian Leader Taymuraz Mamsurov said at a press conference with Dagestani Leader Magomedsalam Magomedov and Karachay-Cherkessian Leader Rashid Temrezov that Russian national policy may only based on consolidation around Russian people, ITAR-TASS reports.

Mamsurov reminded about common history of peoples in Russia. He pointed out the lists of heroes of the USSR, names of streets, squares and railways in Siberia. Mamsurov urged people to read Tolstoy, Griboyedov, Pushkin, Lermontov and Dumas to learn about the Caucasus.

The official said that 80% of the Russian population was Russians and 20% were other ethnicities. He reminded about the events in 1999 when Karamakhi and Chabanmakhi in Dagestan were attacked by terrorists.

The leaders of the republics discussed socio-economic development of the North Caucasus, tourism and emphasized that the authority of Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the NCFD Alexander Khloponin was “comfortable”.
