US to sell defensive weapons to Georgia - minister

The US is ready to sell defensive weapons to Georgia, Georgian Defense Minister Irakly Alasania said today.

"The meeting of the joint commission for defense held 10 days ago was a very successful one. The US delegation announced that the country is ready to sell defensive weapons to Georgia. This was a major surprise for us," Alasania said.

The minister called the decision made by the US authorities crucial.
