The Georgian opposition staged on Thursday another protest demanding the release of political prisoners.

The leader of the Movement for Fair Georgia, Zurab Nogaideli, Conservative Party head Zviad Dzidziguri and head of the People Party Koba Davitashvili all took part the action along with allies, supporters and members of families of political prisoners, a Georgia Times correspondent reports from Tbilisi.

The leaders of the rally declared that they had already registered more than 50 political prisoners, but in reality there are far more.

“We will continue protest actions all across Georgia for as long as even one political prisoner remains in the country’s prisons,” Nogaideli said.

Dzidziguri stressed that the protesters had gathered to express solidarity with all illegal prisoners, and also to Tsotne Gamsakhurdia and to members of the famili of Eki Baselia.

The opposition activists promised that after a change of power in the country they will prosecute everybody responsible for the illegal imprisonment of citizens.
