Patriot missiles arrive in Turkey

Part of Patriot missiles and personnel have arrived at the Incirlik Base in the Adana Province of Turkey. They will be deployed in early 2013.

NATO will provide Turkey with six Patriot missile system from Germany, Netherlands and the US. Turkey requested them in the second half of November, after several missiles from Syria hit its territory and caused deaths.

Ankara plans to use the systems to protect itself from Syrian attacks. Russia and Iran have expressed concerns over the idea.
