Tolerance in Azerbaijan gets a platform in Baku

The first international forum ‘State and religion: strengthening tolerance in the changing world’ focuses on issues of religious tolerance in Azerbaijan and studying the experience of Azerbaijan in the world, 1news.az reports. It brought together experts from Azerbaijan and abroad, such as Head of the Center for Strategic Studies of the President of Azerbaijan Farhad Mammadov, director of the Eurasian regional center of the Youth Forum of the Islamic Conference Elchin Asgarov, head of the Jewish center of the University of California (USA) Hei Shaldler Feller, Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva, adviser of the general secretary of the Islamic Cooperation Organization Omur Orkhun.

Baku platform is one of the main results of teh meeting, stressing the importance of tolerance and cooperation. The speakers noted the positive example of tolerance in Azerbaijan, as well as the experience of developing relations between the state and religion.

They also noted that religion cannot be used for political purposes but for cooperation of people for generally accepted values.
