The Turkmen parliament has ratified the protocol on reaction and cooperation during incidents causing oil pollution in the Caspian Sea, the parliamentary website reports.

The protocol was signed by Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan in Aktau (Kazakhstan) in August 2011.

Caspian states have three more protocols to the convention on protection of the Caspian Sea: the protocol on evaluation of effects on the environment in trans-border context, protocol on protection of the sea from ground pollution and a protocol on protection of biological diversity.
