Georgian PM does not plan to rejoin CIS

Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili re-confirmed that he was not planning to run for president and called Vakhtang Khmaladze, chairman of the parliamentary committee for law, the right candidate for the position. The final choice of candidate will be made together with other members of the Georgian Dream coalition.

Ivanishvili noted that the country will take part in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

The Georgian PM said that he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, but needed time to prepare for the meeting.

Putin said on December 20 that he was not ruling out a meeting with Ivanishvili.

Concerning the CIS, Ivanishvili noted that Georgia was not planning to join it again, but would improve relations with its members.
