UN special envoy meets Syrian leader

Special representative of the UN and LAS Lakhdar Brahimi has met Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus, Xinhua reports.

Brahimi described the peace plan to Assad and will meet opposition today.

The envoy arrived in Syria by car from Lebanon. The governmental forces and opposition are fighting near the airport.
