Agaronyan quits presidential campaign in Armenia

Robert Agaronyan, leader of the Armenian-Russian Public Association, has quit the presidential campaign in Armenia, News Armenia reports.

He did not pay the electoral deposit of about $20,000. He was given 48 hours on Friday, together with 7 other candidates, to pay the sum.

Taron Abramyan, President of the Armenian Karate-Kobudo Federation, and lawyer Ruben Ayvazyan of the Prosperous Armenia Party had quit the campaign earlier.

Armenia will have presidential elections on February 18. Fifteen people have filed documents to the Central Electoral Commission. Registration of candidates will continue until January 14. The presidential campaign will start on January 21 and end on February 16 at 12 am.
