Zapolyarnoye Gas Field operates at full output

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has attended the full launch of the Zapolyarnoye Gas Field in Yamal. It will increase output to a total of 130 billion cubic meters of gas every year, RIA Novosti reports.

The Valazhinskiye Deposits will produce 6.5 billion cubic meters of gas and 1.3 million tons of gas condensate. The output will further increase to 15 billion cubic meters.

The gas field was discovered 220km away from Novy Urengoy in 1965. It has about 3 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves. First gas was extracted by Gazprom in 2001, increasing volumes to 100 billion cubic meters annually in 2004.
