MTS subsidiary goes bankrupt in Uzbekistan

Uzdunrobita, an Uzbek subsidiary of MTS mobile phone operator, has filed a bankruptcy application to the Tashkent Economic Court.


The company was ordered to pay $600 million in September 2012. $150 million were deducted from Uzdunrobita later. The company made 170 people redundant in January and will make 200 more on April 1, 2013.


MTS suffered losses of over $1 billion from stopping operation of Uzdunrobita.
