Deal on EU, Azerbaijan association ‘can only be signed after Baku's entry to WTO’
Read on the website Vestnik KavkazaAn agreement on association between the EU and Azerbaijan can be signed only after Azerbaijan's entry to World Trade Organization (WTO), claimed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mamed-Guliev, reports APA. He said this will not affect commodity exchange between EU and Azerbaijan, which joined the preferences system (GSP+) at the beginning of the previous year. For the moment, Azerbaijani businessmen only use 50-60% of the possibilities of the programme. The main goal of the GSP+ project is to support the development of the Azerbaijani oil sector and to increase the export potential of the country. Through the programme Azerbaijani businessmen can export goods to EU on preferential terms and duty free.
