170th anniversary of Caucasus (Stavropol) diocese

The 170th anniversary of the Caucasus (Stavropol) diocese is being marked this month. The diocese was established by order of Russian Emperor Nikolai I in 1843.

The first Archbishop of Stavropol, Jeremiah, was a sponsor of a massive missionary campaign in the region.
